Russian authorities launched a criminal investigation after an explosion near Savyolovsky station in Moscow killed a police officer and the unidentified attacker on Tuesday.Two other officers were hospitalized with injuries following the blast that occurred just after midnight when a device was thrown at a parked patrol vehicle.The Russian Interior Ministry confirmed that the assailant approached the traffic police directly before the explosive detonated during a period of high security.This incident follows similar fatal attacks on security personnel in Lviv and Mykolaiv as regional law enforcement faces heightened security threats.
