Grand Canyon National Park has reopened overnight lodging on the South Rim after crews repaired multiple breaks in the Transcanyon Waterline and restored enough service for guests to return to El Tovar, Bright Angel Lodge, Maswik Lodge, Delaware North’s Yavapai Lodge and Trailer Village.Park officials said some campground water spigots will remain shut and enhanced fire restrictions on the South Rim will continue while crews complete other segments of a $208 million rehabilitation and upgrade program that began in 2023 and is scheduled to finish in 2027.Staff are urging visitors and residents to conserve water by taking shorter showers, running only full laundry loads, turning off faucets while brushing teeth, and advising hikers to carry or treat their own water until storage tanks regain sufficient capacity to resume normal practices.
